🧪 THE EXPERIMENT
After a recent hackathon at work, I wanted to explore and celebrate everyone’s cool projects. So I challenged myself to make a website to showcase them using Google AI Studio. (NOBODY PANIC! I’m using JEN_AI project info and publicly released tool versions in this public demo version instead of secret Google stuff.)
Type in your “prompt” (=tell the AI what you want to build)
Add data or inspo if needed (click ‘+’ to attach spreadsheets etc.)
Click Run
💡 Pro tip: First go to “Chat” and ask it for help writing the prompt.
You can ask it to build any app or website and see what you get. e.g: “Build an existential crisis coach with a retro computer interface and a hint of friendly doom.” Or maybe don’t use AI as a life coach - your call.
🔧 MY ACTUAL PROMPT:
“Create a single prompt for an app-building tool like Google's AI Studio (Apps Build) to create a website for me using this data to showcase “JEN_AI”: a playful AI-human experimental project & podcast series featuring creative AI, tech, media and culture hacks. The site should feel like it was hacked together by friendly bots: minimal retro terminal aesthetic (but white-on-black instead of green-on-black), glowing/glitchy charm, responsive, and animated, using mostly black and white.”
→I pasted this into AI Studio’s “Chat” window and then copy/pasted the much longer prompt output it created into AI Studio’s “Build” window.

As this is public, I used JEN_AI hack-project data, but Google employees can also access the Google hackathon showcase @ go/gHACKED (bonus: used just-released =AI() Gemini function inside Google Sheets to autogenerate a line of hype for each project, just for fun).
🤔 REFLECTIONS:
✅ Surprisingly fast to get something working but can be hit-or-miss
⚠️ Easy to mess up once edits start - use version control or save copies often
The joy and perils of vibecoding. DO NOT ask for “glitchy charm”

So yes, in true JEN_AI style- we made a hack-project about hack-projects. And we got now-typical mixed-vibes about whether to fear or hype the future (or both), from recent AI-adjacent news. All to a soundtrack from an artist whose upcoming album’s go-to-market strategy is to hit two opposing demographics hard by role-playing as a sexually-submissive puppy while singing a song about incompetent man-children.
